We recently celebrated our 25th anniversary with a dinner meeting at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The evening included recognitions to businesses and past presidents, presentation of a promotional video, plus tokens of appreciation to those present.  Mike Lysakowski, owner of Motorsport Aspects, served as Master of Ceremony.

Businesses and organizations who have supported the agency for 25 years received mementos of service.  Those recognized were Apple Castle, Candleford Inn Bed & Breakfast, Jameson’s Candy, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, Lawrence County Commissioners and Rose point Park Cabins & Camping.

Past Presidents were acknowledged for their guidance in the growth of the agency.   Those recognized were Cindy Barber, Rob Del Signore Jr., Sandi Chandler, Dawn Piroli, Fred Yeager, all of New Castle; Patricia Caccia, Ellwood City, and Morris Green, Hermitage.  Each was presented a gift of appreciation from the agency.  Deceased past presidents remembered were Sharon Davis, Jim Goodpastor, Joe Jameson and Rudy Spielvogel.

Also recognized for her efforts in establishing the organization in 1988 and serving as its first executive director was Becky Sheeler, Slippery Rock.

Reports on community revitalization efforts were given by Terri Strama, Ellwood City;  Larry Corvi, New Castle; John Geidner, Volant; and JoAnn McBride, on behalf of Wampum.Proclamations were awarded to Lawrence County Tourism from the Lawrence County Commissioners and Senator Elder Vogel.

Returning for a second term were Cindy Cochran, C. J. Cochran Day Spa, New Castle and Wendy Farmerie, Silk Road Fair Trade Market, New Wilmington.  New members include Susan Hougelman, The Tavern on the Square, New Wilmington and Connie Moorhouse, Villa Maria Community Center, Villa Maria.

Display tables included an exhibit of historic scrapbooks plus a showcase of the ten top winners of tourism’s 2013 Photo Contest.  Note cards bearing the photos of the top four winners were presented to those attending the dinner.

The evening was very special, and we were thrilled to see everyone who has been very supportive us from the beginning. Thank you!
