Heron and Kingfisher Paddle
July 28 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Scan any shoreline of Lake Arthur and you are likely to spot a Great Blue Heron fishing in the
shallows. Paddle into a cove and you are likely to hear the sudden rattle of a kingfisher as it
swoops from branch to branch. Join Moraine State Park staff to learn more about these elegant
birds by kayaking into their habitat. During this nature-based paddle, we will gather to share
information about the heron, kingfishers, and more about the ecology of Lake Arthur. A limited
number of kayaks are available. Due to increased demand, sign-ups for using park kayaks
at programs are limited to two per year. Kayak and gear provided or bring your own. Life
jackets required to be worn. Ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Pre-registration required. Registration opens Sunday, July 14. To register call the Park
Office at 724-368-8811.
